Curriculum

A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF TECHNICAL, ETHICAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS

The MIM degree requires 36 credit hours:

  • 4 Core Courses (12 Credits) required of all students that provide a foundation of skills and knowledge related to technology, information, and management.
  • 8 Additional Courses (24 Credits) to develop advanced knowledge and skills in data science and analytics, cybersecurity and risk management, and leadership and innovation.

Three tracks are available:

We offer a flexible mix of modalities (in-person and online) and schedules (daytime and evening). You can complete the program as quickly as two years or enroll part-time. You can choose electives to focus on your area of interest and develop expert-level skills tailored to careers in data science, analytics, cybersecurity, and risk management.

Admissions

Admission to the INFO College’s graduate programs is through the University of Maryland Graduate School, with supplemental program-specific application criteria and materials as described below. The University of Maryland’s Graduate School accepts applications through its TerpEngage application system.

We are the University of Maryland’s College of Information and are your gateway to the information economy and a launchpad for your career in data analytics, human centered cybersecurity, and information risk management. We are located in the Baltimore-Washington DC metropolitan region –  a hub for networking, experiential learning, internships, entrepreneurship, and jobs. We are a short drive or metro ride from the booming high tech industry of Northern Virginia, the biomedical corridor of Bethesda, MD, the famous information institutions in Washington DC such as the National Archives, and influential Federal and State information and cybersecurity policy agencies such as NIST, the FCC, and the NSA.

The region also offers diverse cultural and recreational resources including museums, festivals, national landmarks, parks, restaurants, shops and professional sports teams.

INFO’s faculty, staff, and 3000+ students come from over 63 countries and create a welcoming and encouraging environment. 56% of students identify as male, 45% female, 1% other; 63% of students identify Asian (29%), Black (24%), White (22%), Hispanic/Latino (9%), Biracial (4%), American Indian or Alaskan Native (<1%), Pacific Islander (<1%), Unknown/Other (12%). The INFO College is committed to bringing together many perspectives to foster deeper understanding and innovation.
